A Trompe L'Oeil Sighting!

I was looking at another photo a few days ago, wondering if it was trompe l'oeil. Being a little vague on the concept, I looked it up here and no that photo wasn't but this one is. Appropriately enough, its on the wall of a store selling doors. Maybe not the best artistically but still, it works.

I really like the effect this creates! Good find.

Love the colors (and the pipe coming out of the wall;-)

Now that's a good one. I like how they didn't mind the utilities being part of the picture.

I wasn't sure the pipe showed well enough for people to spot. Somehow it enhances the effect; so I like it too.

The cool thing is that you start thinking about something for a photo and then you "see" it. I don't know when the painting was done but assuming it wasn't painted just recently, I drove by there more than once and didn't see it (til I was looking, so to speak).

I'm jealous - I want one of these where I live. It's wonderful.

Plus, it's good to see 6th Street heating up. What's next, I wonder.

Hi Mary - Oh I'd love to see a trompe l'oeil from New York - and other cities as well. Re 6th St., I dunno, I'm not sure I'm doing it justice but really doing that, in a documentary sort of way, would require a different kind of blog. As it was this week, it was raining so I just had to dash out when the rain slowed, take a bunch of shots fast and go with what I got. I'm really nervous about getting the camera wet.
