Xmas Lights

Just in the last few days a lot of people have gotten the Christmas lights up on their houses so I drove around tonight taking photos. Reindeer, snowmen and santas are popular this year, especially if they move. The bottom photo is of a whole house, to give a sense of scale. In that photo the snowman tips his hat and the reindeer move their heads up and down and in the second from the top photo of the santa train, the wheels turn.

Great shots, did you use a long exposure for the Christmas lights? You have captured a tender moment with the father and child shot.

No, I just braced the camera and used the night shoot setting. And threw out about half the photos. I just don't have the patience to do it right and use a tripod.

I like the cacti the best! Isn't it interesting how the Christmas spirit is pervasive throughout the world?!

What a wonderful series of Christmas photos...I particularly like the saguaro!

My favorites are the deer at the light "stream" in the top photo and the saguaro. To be honest I'm not big on Christmas spirit but some things I enjoy like the lights people put on their houses and music (Handel's Messiah, Christmas jazz). I've seen those reindeer in the stores and they're just white plastic mesh with lights strung on them but at night lit up, they are genuinely magical.
